Tower House

This 1780 sf three story house was designed for a small urban lot. The First Floor has kitchen, dining and a flexible room that can be used for working, media center or as a guest suite with an attached full bath. The second floor is fully open for living and gathering spaces, or work areas. The third floor is the owner's private retreat with walk in closet and laundry area.

Each floor has its own multi purpose outdoor areas.  The carport on the first floor can be used as a covered patio for entertaining with a direct connection to the kitchen.  The second floor space opens onto a large terrace and the third floor has a private roof terrace with outdoor shower.  All these spaces are connected by stairs for a spacious multi level outdoor experience on a small lot.

Talavera Tiles

Using Mexican Talavera tiles can provide lively color and texture to a home.  Selecting the tiles can be a challenge given the vast number of designs.  I recommend clients pre-selct a range of tiles that catch their eye because of style, design or color.  I then use those tiles to prepare patterned layouts for each application as shown below for a Spanish Style House now under construction.

Design for a 1,650 sf Courtyard home.  Rooms are organized around a large interior courtyard.  The courtyard allows the main living areas to have full glass walls on two sides for open and bright rooms.  A covered terrace expands the living area of the house so that it feels much larger than the 1,650 sf would imply.
